Meet Our Transmission Repair Team – Ventura, CA

Dave Wilkes, President

Dave Wilkes

Since 1968, Dave Wilkes has worked in several positions, including brake and front-end mechanic, R&R technician, rebuilder, shop foreman and shop manager. In 1993, he purchased his current Ventura transmission repair shop and changed the name to Dave Wilkes Transmissions. He has seen the transmission industry change significantly from all 3-speed-rear wheel drive transmissions to highly complex front wheel all-computer-controlled transmissions of today. However, one thing that remains constant is Dave’s dedication to providing you with the best transmission service in Ventura, CA.

Henry Villanueva, Installer

Henry Villanueva

With over 20 years of experience, Henry is the most experienced transmission installer at our transmission repair shop. Ventura customers know that Henry pays great attention to detail on the work that he does and are familiar with his ability to do seemingly impossible repairs. He joined our Ventura transmission repair shop in 1989 and is responsible for servicing, removing, and reinstalling the transmissions and repairs.

Chris, Master Auto Technician

Chris

Chris is the newest member of our shop, but don’t let that fool you. He has over 30 years of experience in general repair and as a Volvo specialist. Chris has previously owned his own shop and is a skilled ASE Master Technician, so you can trust him for a job well done. When he is outside of the shop, Chris enjoys outdoor activities such as surfing and hiking. He also spends his free time operating the soundboard at his church and being with his son and daughter.

Barbie, Office Manager/Secretary/Bookkeeper

Barbie grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and moved to Ventura County in the late 1980’s. She has decades of experience in bookkeeping and office management. Barbie joined the team as our part-time bookkeeper in 2006, roughly a year after launching out on her own as an independent bookkeeper for several local business owners. Because of the diversity of Barbie’s client base, she brings some helpful skills to our “table”. Barbie is married to her best-ever-friend, Stephen, and has 2 children, 2 grandchildren and an adorable fur-child. If you stop in the shop on one of the days that she’s here, you will probably have the privilege of meeting Chase.

Chase, Shop Dog & Customer Greeter

Chase is a Parti-colored Cocker Spaniel that makes an appearance at Dave Wilkes Transmissions from time to time. He was born on January 8, 2011 and lives in Oxnard, CA with his humans, Stephen and Barbie. He loves to dig in the sand at the beach, and really enjoys taking his human, Stephen running at the park. Most of all, he loves to fetch his favorite orange and blue tennis ball. If you get the pleasure of meeting Chase, and he seems apprehensive, simply tell him to “Search” and he will gladly bring you his ball, and wait patiently for you to toss it. If you do throw it for him, rest assured, you and Chase would become quick friends.
