A Guide to 4x4 Service
Like every vehicle, your 4x4 will need regular service to ensure its roadworthiness, reliable operation, and efficiency. In general, your special transportation will need maintenance more often than standard cars. Under ordinary driving conditions, the oil and filter in most 4x4s should be changed every 5,000-7,500 miles or at about 6 months. We'll need to check your transfer case/differential fluid often to maintain sufficient levels of clean product. Depending on condition and use, it may need to be changed every 30,000-60,000 miles. We'll need to change the transmission fluid in 60,000-100,000 mile intervals for automatic models and every 30,000-60,000 miles for manuals. When you use your vehicle under more strenuous conditions such as off-roading or heavy hauling, the service interval decreases to every 3,000-5,000 miles or 3-4 months. If you love to go off the beaten path, you should have us keep a close eye on key parts and fluids to remedy any problems resulting from exposure to sand, dust, or other contaminants. This includes checking/changing air, cabin, and fuel filters as well as monitoring/changing the motor oil, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and differential fluid in the front and rear.
